At this workshop, you will have the opportunity to work directly with librarians and instructional designers to learn how to find, evaluate, and adapt high quality open educational materials in your courses.
Join our community of practice to develop your "commons" mindset. We’ll explore the what, why, and how of OER, including, but not limited to: open textbooks, freely-available online resources, library resources available to registered students, custom-published materials that include some royalty-free content, and faculty-created content. You can also learn about successful adoptions of OER on campus with faculty leads and experts from the Library, DPRC, and Academic Technology to help you make your implementation of OER more effective.
Faculty professional development stipends ($250) for participation are available to all faculty attendees (including lecturers) who have not attended this workshop previously. FERP Faculty may receive professional development funds payable to their department to reimburse them for professional development expenses, but are not able to be paid directly with an honorarium. (This is a HR/CALPERS requirement.)
Lunch will be provided. After lunch, librarians and instructional designers will be available for one-on-one consults.
